DAREPLANE

Despite the efficacy and benefit of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), major improvements can still be made by developing “smart” adaptive DBS that can be personalized to a persons symptoms. The time for this research to be done is ideal, given the rapid development of artificial intelligence algorithms made in the previous decade allowing for patients to benefit from individually tailored- rather than blanket solutions.

The purpose of DAREPLANE is to provide a test environment for the prototyping stage, to allow a variety of researchers, clinicians, engineers and companies to co-develop the next generation closed-loop and adaptive neurostimulation solutions for unmet medical needs.

DAREPLANE is public-private partnership between the Donders Center for Cognition of Radboud University Nijmegen, Maastricht University, Newronika and Cortec in collaboration with the Hersenstichting (Dutch Brain Foundation) and the generous support from their topsector LSH TKI allowance.
